This flagstone tessellation is one that I conceived of by simply wanting to do something with a diamond shape comprised of four rhombuses. After playing around with it for a little while, I came up with what you see here.
A while back I discovered that two rhombuses adjacent to each other could be used to create patterns I hadn't previously tried. In this case, I used it to do the set of four trapezoids that form that diamond shape.
I had first thought of it when I did my 'Serpentine Tessellation'. But it has all sorts of applications, no doubt.
I also recently used it in another tessellation that I haven't yet published. And it most certainly has many other possibilities within it waiting to be found.
Esta teselación de losas surgió de mi deseo de hacer algo con una forma de diamante compuesta por cuatro rombos. Tras experimentar un poco con ella, di con el resultado que aquí presento.
Hace un tiempo descubrí que, al colocar dos rombos uno junto al otro, es posible crear patrones que no había explorado antes. En este caso, aproveché esa idea para generar el conjunto de cuatro trapecios que conforman dicha forma de diamante.
La idea se me ocurrió originalmente cuando creé mi «teselación serpentina». Sin duda, tiene todo tipo de aplicaciones.
Recientemente, también la he empleado en otra teselación que aún no he publicado. Y, sin lugar a dudas, encierra muchas otras posibilidades que están esperando a ser descubiertas.
The pattern is easy to see from the back of the tessellation.
This is a somewhat difficult tessellation, as are pretty much all flagstones. Although, it is made a little bit less intense thanks to its linear structure.

El patrón resulta fácil de apreciar desde el reverso de la teselación.
Se trata de una teselación algo compleja, como ocurre con prácticamente todas las que imitan un empedrado. No obstante, su ejecución resulta algo menos exigente gracias a su estructura lineal.
